The decision
Roles affect the simulation rather than simply describing players. Full coverage gives a squad-wide bonus, while a missing role penalises every player. Compare an individual star with the effect on the full team.
How it works
Five roles grant +1 OVR. One missing role costs −5 per player; two or more cost −6. Three or more players from the same VCT region add +1. Region follows the source team roster, not nationality.
Practical interpretation
A higher raw rating may not compensate for a squad-wide penalty. Check your roster summary before confirming. Fixed CPU rosters are exempt from missing-role penalties, so do not apply your roster rules directly to opponents.
